How Does the Tipping feature work in GalaBid?
Suggested tips - which campaigns ask for tips ?
Participants may be asked for a tip to cover the costs of the GalaBid fundraising platform. This request only appears on campaigns where the fundraiser has chosen a pricing option that includes tips to GalaBid. This GalaBid pricing option is offered in countries where tipping is commonplace.
How is the tip request displayed to participants?
At checkout, a suggested tip for GalaBid is displayed to participants.
Participants can:
1. Accept the suggested amount.
2. Change the tip amount by using the slider or entering a custom amount.
3. Opt out of the tip entirely by clicking 'custom amount', and entering 0.
In addition, a message about the tip is included on the campaign's home page and on each item page. This is to inform participants ahead of checkout that they will be prompted to tip and why. The messages are visible to participants when they are logged into the campaign.
How the tip is distributed
GalaBid is running a promotion where 10% of each tip is shared with the fundraiser. This offer is currently available in North America and the UK. It is automatic on 'free with tips' campaigns in these regions. The total amount shared is included on the campaign's summary page.
Viewing tip information
Tip details can be viewed in the Payment Report under the Reports tab. The report provides a breakdown of participant payments and includes tips to GalaBid.

Tips are not deducted from the fundraiser's earnings

If a participant opts out of a tip, there is no financial penalty for the fundraiser.

Is it commercially viable for GalaBid to offer free with tips software?
Yes. In regions where tipping is culturally acceptable, enough participants tip GalaBid to make it comerically viable. The tips cover the costs of the platform and the costs of the expert humans who support it.
Can a tip be refunded?
Of course. If a participant tipped GalaBid in error, reach out to our team we will refund the tip.
